In 2015, an assessment was carried out to determine how accessible Ukrainian political processes were for persons with disabilities. The research focused on an analysis of international and national legal instruments used in Ukraine such as the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Constituion of Ukraine. Observations and feedback from three focus groups in targeted cities and a survey also provided information on the barriers that Ukrainians with disabilities encounter in political processes. The assessment and report was developed by the National Assembly of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine (NAPD) with technical support from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and financial support from the Government of Canada and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
