Ahead of the 2022 legislative elections in Senegal, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) supported the Direction General des Elections (DGE) in the production of TV and radio spots to raise awareness on the process of voter card distribution. The spots have been produced in French, the official language of Senegal, and Wolof, the most widely spoken local language. In a first for the DGE, the spots include sign language interpretation to better reach people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, drawing on the lexicon of electoral terms developed by IFES in collaboration with representatives of the Deaf community in Senegal.

La distribution des cartes d’électeur pour les élections législatives du 31 juillet 2022 se déroule à l’intérieur du Sénégal du 15 juin au 30 juillet 2022, veille du scrutin et à l’étranger du 15 juin au 31 juillet 2022, jour du scrutin. Les cartes d’électeurs sont disponibles dans les préfectures, sous-préfectures, mairies, représentations diplomatiques ou consulaires. Pour retirer sa carte d’électeur, le citoyen devra présenter sa carte d’identité biométrique CEDEAO et son récépissé d’inscription. Si la carte d’identité biométrique est perdue, l’électeur présentera un certificat de perte. Si le récépissé d’inscription est perdu, l’électeur signera une déclaration sur l’honneur devant la commission.
