The USAID-funded Election Access Working Group in Kosovo is a multi-stakeholder working group supported by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the Kosovo Democratic Institute that aims to ensure full participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral processes and public life. Key participants include representatives from organizations representing four types of disability, the Central Election Commission, the Election Complaint and Appeals Panel, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. The working group jointly produced this Handbook for Organizations of and for Persons with Disabilities to Utilize Media for Advocacy Efforts. The handbook is intended to serve as a tool in order to improve media outreach strategies and to increase media coverage and presentation of issues of concern to persons with disabilities. It includes guidance on how to structure interactions with the media, such as writing a press release and organizing a press conference. This handbook is the first joint initiative of the Election Access Working Group.
